The 75th anniversary logo and tagline are the work of current students.
【Concept of the work】

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of its founding, University of the Sacred Heart has created a logo and tagline that both reflect on “the path we have walked” up to now and express our commitment to “the path we will take” toward the centennial. The logo depicts a path in the shape of the “S” for Sacred Heart, with five colored footprints symbolizing the five key themes of the 75th Anniversary Project.

【The meaning of each color footprint】

Green: Creation of a lush green and sustainable campus environment
Orange: Establishment of a system for compiling and preserving university historical materials
Blue: Contribution to a decarbonized society
Yellow: Fostering a global mindset
Purple: Realization of coexistence with diverse cultures

【Comments from the award-winning student】

Thank you very much for holding this award ceremony. I am very honored that my work was chosen as the logo and tagline to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the University. When I was a sophomore, I was very impressed by Steve Jobs' speech “Connecting the Dots” in an online English class. He said that his life was not only good, but also difficult. However, when he looked back later, he said that all the events were connected and nothing was wasted. Hearing this story, I couldn't stand still, so I bought an iPad with the money I had saved from my self-restraint and started creating illustrations and logos.

My once-in-a-lifetime coming-of-age ceremony was canceled, I rarely saw my friends, and my college life suddenly did not go as planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but I worked hard, believing that these painful feelings and experiences would come to fruition somewhere. And when this opportunity presented itself, I took on the challenge without hesitation, and the praise I received made me realize that all the dots had been connected to form a “path”.

The logo mark I created this time is based on the motif of “the road”. It expresses our tagline, “Rooted in the past, Stepping into the Future”. The Chinese writer Lu Xun said, “For actually there were no roads to begin with, but when many people pass one way a road is made”. As he said, this road that has been connected for 75 years is the result of the steps taken by everyone associated with the University of the Sacred Heart. From now on, I would like to go forward without forgetting that our steps will connect the path to the next 100 years and 150 years.
